Making the Grade

Sandora Irvin: B+
20 points, 11 rebounds, two blocks, two assists, one steal

Foul trouble plagued the star forward much of the game, especially early in the first half. The junior was forced to sit on the bench for a majority of the game’s first 20 minutes. Irvin still played well enough to record her 15th consecutive double-double. Playing the entire second half in foul trouble, however, Irvin wasn’t as aggressive as usual on either end of the floor. Irvin’s cautious play allowed for a big night from Georgia’s Christi Thomas, who scored 19 points and 12 rebounds before fouling out.

Kim Ortega: C
Seven points, one rebound, one assist, one rebound

Ortega struggled once again to find her shot Monday night, just as she did in the tournament’s first game against Temple. The senior guard ended her career against Georgia with a poor 2-of-10 shooting from the floor, including 1-of-7 from behind the 3-point line. As usual, Ortega played aggressive defense on every Lady Bulldogs’ possession down court. In the end, the young Georgia guards were just too fast and quick for Ortega and the Lady Frogs defense to contain.

Ebony Shaw: C-
Two points, three rebounds, one steal

An apparent leg cramp early in the first half had Shaw taken to the bench and attended to by trainers. After that point, Shaw didn’t look like her normal self on the court, leading to her ending her career at TCU with a two point and three rebound performance. The senior guard, who is second on the team in scoring, only attempted three shots all night.

Tracy Wynn: C+
Two points, two rebounds, six steals

Wynn recorded an impressive six steals against Georgia, but other than that she wasn’t too much of a factor Monday night. The senior scored only two points on 1-of-4 shooting and grabbed two rebounds. Like Shaw and Ortega, Wynn hoped to end her collegiate career on a better note than she did. The six steals, though, helped the Lady Frogs claw back into the game, giving the team a chance to make a great comeback.

Natasha Lacy: B-
Six points, six rebounds, four assists, one steal

The freshman point guard continues to impress with her passing abilities. At times, it seems like her passes are so good that they catch her teammates off guard, as the four turnovers indicate. Lacy did a good job off the boards grabbing six rebounds, many of which led to fast break opportunities for the Lady Frogs. The four turnovers were a little high and her poor free-throw shooting needs to be attended to during the offseason.
