  • African Heritage Organization is a newly formed organization that would like to invite everyone interested in knowing about the African culture and how it affects the global society to an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Student Center basement.   • Career Services will host a Graduate and Professional School Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today in the Student Center Lounge. Representatives from more than 30 schools attend. For more information, call (817) 257-7860.

  • The TCU Ad Club will sponsor a presentation by the Craig Van Amburgh advertising agency at 5 p.m. today in the Moudy Building North, Room 141. The presentation will showcase opportunities and career fields in this agency. For more information, e-mail (w.v.irion@tcu.edu).

  • The Ninth Annual Major/Minor Fair will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 23 in the Student Center Basement. The event is hosted by the Center for Academic Services and provides students an opportunity to speak with representatives from various departments on campus. Students may also sign up for door prizes, which are two first-day enrollment passes for the spring 2003 semester. For more information, call (817) 257-7486.

  • A free GSP preparation workshop will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Student Center Basement, Room B16

  • Theatre TCU will present the world premiere of “Two Feet Away and Shouting” on Oct. 17 to Oct. 19, in the Studio Theatre. Admission is free and tickets are on reserve now by calling (817) 257-5770 Monday through Friday 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

  • The deadline for the annual Creative Writing Contests will be Nov. 15. Nearly $3,000 will be awarded to students for essays, fiction and poetry. Rules and entry forms are available from the English department in Reed Hall, Room 314 or from the Writing Center, Student Center Basement, Room 11A.

  • The deadline for applications for the Truman Scholarship is Dec. 2. The scholarship provides up to $30,000 to help fund graduate study for those seeking to enter public service. Applications are available at (www.truman.gov). Applications and questions should be directed to Ralph Carter in the political science department, Sadler Hall, Room 205.
