Frog Report Card

Passing Offense: B+
Despite the wet and blustery conditions, redshirt freshman Tye Gunn connected on almost every pass, throwing 12 completions on 15 attempts. Senior Adrian Madise knifed through the Army defensive secondary for a 46-yard touchdown reception. Senior LaTarence Dunbar was a non-factor in the passing attack, catching just one pass for 1 yard. Also, sophomore Reggie Harrell, a highly-regarded speedster before a knee injury, made the first reception of his career.

Rushing Offense: A-
Junior Ricky Madison broke the 100-yard plateau, carrying the ball 19 times for 116 yards on a sloppy field. True freshman Lonta Hobbs added two touchdowns, including a breakaway 62-yarder on an exhausted Army defense. TCU’s offensive line manhandled Army’s defensive front, paving the way for 60 carries for a 4.4 yard average.

Passing Defense: B+
The TCU secondary uncharacteristically allowed three long receptions, two of which were to Army’s dynamic William White. Senior Jason Goss added yet another interception, giving him five on the season. Senior Jared Smitherman again made a big play for TCU, intercepting a Reggie Nevels pass to set up a field goal. The TCU pass rush forced plebe quarterback Zac Dahman to intentionally ground the ball in his own end zone, earning a safety for TCU.

Rushing Defense: A-
The TCU D’ held Army’s solid running attack to just 2.8 yards a carry. Nine members of the defense combined for a phenomenal 15 tackles for loss. Junior Bo Schobel had five of them. One touchdown drive featured Army plebe halfback Carlton Jones mowing over the TCU defense five straight times for 48 yards.

Special Teams: A-
Mr. Automatic Nick Browne made all three of his field goal attempts. Redshirt freshman Zack Moore blocked an Army punt to set up the Gunn to Madise touchdown. TCU’s special team unit blocked a Paul Stelzer extra point. Senior Joey Biasatti had difficulties punting in the inclement weather, but he did manage to place two of his four punts inside the 20-yard line. A poor long snap on a punt attempt with seconds remaining before halftime led to Army starting an easy touchdown drive from TCU’s 2-yard line to narrow their halftime deficit to 23-13. Dunbar excelled yet again in the return game, averaging 32.5 yards a kick return.
