National Coming Out Week about educating campus

I am a junior at TCU. National Coming Out Week is just as important as Breast Cancer Awareness or Safe Sex Week. The point of having these weeks is to educate people about the subject and remember those lost to the cause. I feel that the on going effects of National Coming Out Week will help educate the students on campus. Last Wednesday, eQ Alliance remembered Matthew Shepherd along with the 1,299 other victims killed from 2000 to 2001 in the Southwest Region. National Coming Out Week is a national celebration of gay, lesbian, transgendered and bisexual American citizens. eQ Alliance is trying to make our campus more open-minded, but many people keep throwing lemons in their general direction.

I can tell you from first-hand experience that the gays and lesbians on this campus will take these lemons and make more than lemonade.

By the way, I am straight.
