Permanent Improvement Committee chair resigns

Kaveh Nezafati announced Tuesday that he has ended his term early as Permanent Improvement Committee chairman at the Student Government Association meeting.

Nezafati, a sophomore biochemistry major, told SGA members it is time for him to focus on academics. It was difficult to balance school work with extra-curricular activities, he said.

“It’s been really good working with SGA,” Nezafati said. “I really gained a lot of leadership experience, but it’s time for me to put my academic career first.”

SGA’s executive board appointed Tom Casey, a freshman political science major, to take over Nezafati’s position. The House supported the board’s decision in a unanimous voice vote Tuesday night.

“It is the best committee SGA has to offer,” Casey said. “You really have a chance to leave a mark at TCU by creating a more enjoyable atmosphere.”

The Permanent Improvement Committee is responsible for initiating improvements on campus. In the past, the committee helped to create the Moudy building atrium and purchase the steel Horned Frog and weights for on-campus work out facilities.
