The deadline for the annual Creative Writing Contests
is today. Nearly $3,000 will be awarded to students for
essays, fiction and poetry. Rules and entry forms are
available from the English department in Reed Hall, Room
314 or from the Writing Center, Student Center Basement,
Room 11A.
The University Christian Church Weekday School
Holiday Bazaar will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and
10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Fellowship Hall. The
bazaar features gifts, jewelry, toys, books, clothing
and more. Other highlights include a tearoom with sections
for Feastivities, a Scholastic book fair, a bake sale
and a silent auction. Admission is free. For more information,

eQ Alliance and Programming Council present Gay,
Greek and Proud at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Student
Center Lounge. In his multi-media presentation, Leif Mitchell
draws on his experience and knowledge of gay and lesbian
issues as they relate to students to provide concrete
ways to make fraternities and sororities more inclusive
of gay, lesbian and bisexual people.
Time Management that Works, a brown bag lunch,
will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Student
Center, Room 207. Brent OBannon will talk about
effective time management.
All English majors and minors who wish to apply
for membership in Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honor Society,
are invited to pick up applications from the English department
office, Reed Hall, Room 314. The deadline is Friday.
The deadline for applications for the Truman Scholarship
is Dec. 2. The scholarship provides up to $30,000 to help
fund graduate study for those seeking to enter public
service. Applications are available at (www.truman.gov).
Applications and questions should be directed to Ralph
Carter in the political science department, Sadler Hall,
Room 205.
Flu shots are available at the Health Center for
students only. The hours are 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and mornings only on Tuesdays
and Thursdays. The cost is $15. |
