Senior receiver, leader back after missing last game

The Frogs welcome back senior Adrian Madise, who missed the last game due to injuries.

Before sitting out Nov. 9 against Tulane, TCU senior wide receiver Adrian Madise said he had never missed a complete game from start to finish.

He was doing his best throughout the season to keep that streak alive, while producing for the Frogs.

Battling through the bumps and nicks, Madise leads the team in receptions (26) and average yards a reception (17.2).

However the pain was just too much, and Madise was unable to go against the Green Wave.

“It was very frustrating not being able to get out there,” he said. “Being the first game that I actually missed, it was hard to deal with.”

Now after two weeks to recuperate, Madise is rested and apparently ready to finish out the season for the Frogs.

“I’m feeling a lot better, and its getting better every day,” Madise said. “I’ve started some acupuncture treatments and things like that. They’re helping me out.”

Senior quarterback Sean Stilley returned to the lineup without the services of Madise against Tulane. He said Madise adds speed, big plays and great route running to the Frogs.

He said most importantly though, Madise brings leadership.

“Not just cause he’s a senior, but because he’s a great player,” Stilley said. “It’s hard to have one of your more important guys hurt and out, it’s just having him back is great.”

Head coach Gary Patterson echoed Stilley’s sentiments.

“He adds another deep threat,” Patterson said. “He adds also senior leadership, and a guy that can break tackles because he’s a big wide receiver. The key is if he can stay healthy.”

In Madise’s absence, junior Bruce Galbert and freshman Chad Andrus grabbed their first receptions of their careers, and junior Reggie Harrell added a 13-yard reception.

Madise said getting those guys opportunities not only helps take pressure off him, but allowed the team to get a better look at the future.

“A little bit of foreshadowing,” Madise said.

The rest of the team hopes Madise’s return is foreshadowing for a win on Saturday.
