Cowboys
lose Carter to hamstring injury
DALLAS
(AP) Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Quincy Carter
will miss the next four to six weeks after tearing his left
hamstring in the loss against Oakland, coach Dave Campo said
Tuesday.
Its
a setback no question, Campo said. The less amount
of time lost will help us. If its six weeks, well
still have a very good opportunity before the end of the season
to get a good evaluation.
The injury
means backup quarterback Anthony Wright, who came in after
Carter was left hobbled in the first quarter, will get his
third start of the season against Washington. That leaves
Clint Stoener as his backup and the winless Cowboys without
a No. 3 quarterback.
Owner
Jerry Jones met with free agent quarterback Ryan Leaf on Saturday
night.
Theres
a chance the Cowboys could sign Leaf, who has a tendon injury
in his right wrist, and place him on injured reserve.y
