Aburto named C-USA Co-Player of the week
TCU junior Paty Aburto has been named the Conference USA Women’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week for the period ending Monday. She shares the honor with Ana Maria Saabi of Tulane. Last season, Aburto earned C-USA Player of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 18. Aburto, the Horned Frogs top singles player, led No. 29 TCU (2-0) to a win over Houston last week in C-USA. She teamed with senior Rosa Perez at No. 1 doubles to post an 8-5 victory over Houston’s Yolandi Terblanche and Miranda Foley. Aburto and Perez are the 30th-ranked doubles combo in the current ITA rankings. In singles play, 125th-ranked Aburto defeated Foley in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 1 singles.
The Frogs will face off against cross-town rival Texas-Arlington 2 p.m. today at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
