Sliding In

Senior centerfielder Terry Trofholz slides into second base under Texas-Arlington’s Chris Taylor. The Frogs (4-1), who are currently riding a four-game winning streak, will take the road for the first time this season against Southeastern Louisiana (1-0). They will play 6:30 p.m. today, 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. The last time the two teams met was Feb. 25, 1989. TCU won 9-6. The Frogs lead the all-time series against the Lions 2-1. This will be the first time the Frogs have played at SELA’s Alumni Field.

“We will have it in our head that we are OK because we have at least worked out there at night,” Trofholz said.

The Frogs are coming off a 11-4 win against UTA Tuesday. The Lions are coming off a 9-3 win against New Orleans Tuesday. They are led by outfielder Russell Taylor, who batted .344 with 10 home runs, 41 RBIs and 21 stolen bases a season ago. The Lions, who had an overall 21-33 record last year, went 9-18 at home and 14-13 against non-conference opponents.

The Frogs struggled on the road last year, going only 8-13. Senior first baseman Jared Lundeen (hand), senior second baseman Will Lewis (heel), junior right-handed pitcher Tim McGough (elbow) and freshman right-handed pitcher Zach Duncan (leg) are all on the injured reserve list.
