Jerome named C-USA Pitcher of the Week

For the second time this season and third time in his career, TCU junior Clayton Jerome has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week, the league announced Monday. Jerome shares this week’s honor with Zachary Treadway of Charlotte.

Jerome was recognized for hurling seven scoreless innings in the Frogs’ 13-3 win at Saint Louis Saturday. The right-hander allowed just two hits and one walk while striking out a season-high nine. He carried a perfect game into the fifth inning of the contest after retiring the first 12 Billikens he faced. With the victory, Jerome raised his season record to a team-best 4-1.

He also earned C-USA accolades this season for tossing a complete-game gem to help TCU snap a 10-game losing streak to nationally ranked Texas Tech on Feb. 22. Last season, Jerome was named Pitcher of the Week for striking out a career-high 10 in a complete-game victory on April 12, also against SLU.
