Man attempts to mail drugs at nearby store

At 4:30 p.m. Thursday, an unidentified man went in to Accuracy Plus, a mail and secretarial service on South University Drive, and told an employee he wanted to overnight a package of shoes to someone in Kentucky, owner Barbara Gant said.

The package weighed 13 pounds and would have cost $99.98 to ship, Gant said.

Gant said she became suspicious when the man was willing to pay this amount to ship the shoes overnight. She then called the local authorities to investigate.

“It turned out to be ten pounds of cocaine in cellophane wrap,” Gant said.

The Fort Worth sheriff and about a dozen officers, including some from the narcotics department, arrived at the scene later, Gant said. She said she had never seen the man before.

Officers on the scene would not comment. The man was still being questioned by two officers at the store Thursday afternoon.
